We all know the story of Gossip Girl, but do you know that we found a location here in Ottawa that screams upper east side? When I was hired to work with a local influencer, Chantsy, and the venue 1451 Wellington, I was blown away from the second I walked in the door. Within minutes of arriving, I was already thinking of who would be amazing to work with and transform this unique, one of a kind space into something spectacular. I could think of no others than the team we collaborated with, and it was for sure something that I never dreamed we would have been able to pull off.
Time to start the process
First stop was a planner, now if you are in the industry then you definitely know Shannon from Kennedy Event Planning. Shannon has been around for over a decade and she knows a thing or two about weddings and has more experience in her pinky when it comes to design and execution. I feel like we learned so much from just being involved in a sliver of her job, and we are so incredibly honoured that she came out of her styled shoot retirement for us! I have no idea if she was ‘actually’ retired, but she had not been involved in a creative shoot for quite some time, which made this experience even more exciting for everyone, and especially us!
When Shannon arrived, we also brought along Amanda from The Gathering Event Company, and if you don’t know by now this girl has some serious talent from her architecture background, no doubt. She was also just amazed at the details that were poured into this gorgeous space and as a team, we decided to incorporate all the little pieces of decor, the chairs, the library, and the breathtaking front entryway as our venue for this unique concept.
The day was finally here
Once in a while, you get your heart stolen, and by that I mean, the whole creative team involved in this day really brought everything they had to the table. And by the table, I mean the mother load of talent. We were excited to see what everyone came up with, but we couldn’t have imagined it would be this luxurious and how flawlessly everything just blended together.
We wanted to mix things up a bit, so we collaborated with Anika from Sear & Savour to prepare a custom menu that she brought to life during the shoot, and she really created works of art!
How could we forget the soft delicate designs that Krista created from Wishtree Invitations & Design Inc, they were so intrinsically designed to just tie everything together flawlessly.
On top of the world, Titanic style
We essentially knew that designing such a big editorial in this manner that we ultimately wanted to get published. Now we didn’t just want to get published anywhere, we wanted to get published with the best, the big honcho. The Mr. Big of this story is none other than the Wedluxe Magazine. We have been published before, but to be featured in Wedluxe was absolutely on our bucket list. When I reached out to them about submitting this amazing editorial shoot, they were so amazing and with open arms showed us step by step how to do it. I can’t explain how nervous I was when I hit submit, but I knew that I needed to just take a deep breath and trust that what we gave them would be something they could definitely get excited about.
We quickly got the email back saying …Welcome. We were in and we couldn’t have been more excited.
